South African Lekompo artist Shebeshxt is expected to spend more days behind bars as his case has been postponed to 27 March 2026.
Shebe, real name Lehlogonolo Chauke was arrested late last year on a number of charges including attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
The rapper and his legal team made several attempts to get him out on bail but all were denied. Not only did he spend the festive season in prison, he also missed all his gigs and most importantly the birth of his child who was born during this time.
On 11 February Shebeshxt was expected to appear in court to face allegations of being in possession of drugs and a cellphone while in the Polokwane police station holding cells, where he is being held for alleged attempted murder. However, the case was delayed after the matter was not put on the roll due to missing information and the docket being returned to police.
The national prosecuting authority spokesperson in Limpopo Mashudu Malabi says they will await the arrangement of a regional court date and could not confirm if new charges have been added to the nine that the rapper is already facing.
This is a developing story, more updates to follow.
