Abigail Visagie - Bio
Abigail Visagie is a 32 year old media personality born in Kimberley in the Northern Cape but raised in Mafikeng in the North West Province.
Abigail has a huge belief in the saying “REMEMBER WHERE YOU COME FROM” Abigail also has roots in Vryburg in the North West.
Abigail’s start in the industry happened at the beginning of her high school career, with a chance encounter at The Rand Easter show when she stumbled upon open auditions for Etv’s youth program, CRAZe. After spending some time on the channel Abigail’s parents decided it was time for her to focus on school and thus put an end to her work on television.
Abigail truly comes alive in front of the camera and had the opportunity to do so on the daily Talk Show, SHOW ME LOVE on Moja love. Abigail was part of a fierce panel of 4 power women including Unathi Nkayi , Kgomotso Moeketsi and Nontobeko Sibisi.SHOW ME LOVE is a talk show centered around women and talks around issues women face everyday from relationships, career, current affairs and lifestyle to name a few. The show is a sisterhood that transcends the camera.
Abigail’s next adventure saw her compete against 8 hard working South African media personalities in a reality TV show called “The Search: E! host South Africa”. The show was created to find the newest face of entertainment journalism for popular international DSTV channel, E! Entertainment. 8 contestants were head hunted and put in a mansion together to perform weekly tasks designed to prove their TV presenting strength. Those who failed in their tasks were evicted from the mansion each week until only the winner remained. Abigail finished runner-up, just missing out to eventual winner, Katleho Sinivasan. With the age of social media on our doorstep Abigail has collaborated with a Johannesburg agency to work on a social media based news platform, THE PULSE.Abigail news and current affairs on THE PULSE ZA platform. Abigail has 5 years of LIVE television broadcasting experience behind her name. Abigail gained experience as a news anchor and producer during her time at 24 hour news channels ANN7 and AfroWorldView. Trained by Gerry Elsdon and Chantal Rutter Dross, Abigail quickly found her feel in the fast paced news room. Having anchored multiple news bulletins includes Prime Time news and Breakfast slots, Abigail is a diverse News Anchor that can engage in everything from human interest stories to hard hitting current affairs and politics. As a news anchor she has covered South African Elections, various political conferences and one and one interviews with some of Africa’s biggest names in politics. Abigail also presented and produced her own lifestyle program titled FACE IN THE CROWD, where she profiled prolific South Africans and spent a day in their life. A show that asked for people to ‘PUSH PASSED YOUR WEAKNESSES AND LIVE TO INSPIRE".
