Why We Fear Our Own Joy: Overcoming The Guilt Of Living Well
Olerato
What happens when life finally feels good, but you’re still waiting for something to go wrong?
Recorded while travelling in Amsterdam, this episode of Living Content explores our complicated relationship with joy - the guilt that can come with living well, the instinct to brace when life feels peaceful, and the subtle ways we interrupt happiness because struggle feels more familiar than ease.
I reflect on learning to stay present in good seasons without preparing for their ending, allowing life to become softer without guilt, and building our capacity to receive joy instead of rushing past it.
We also explore a simple practice for staying with joy a little longer and the reminder that perhaps we don’t need to trust that good things will last forever to fully experience them while they are here.
In this episode: embracing joy without guilt, fear of happiness, self-sabotage, nervous system safety, learning to receive, finding peace after survival mode, and allowing yourself to live well.
