Rapper Emtee has been granted bail after spending 16 days behind bars. Mthembeni Ndevu popularly known as Emtee appeared in the Midrand Magistrates Court on Wednesday for bail hearing following his arrest two weeks ago for violating a protection order obtatined by his ex-wife Nicole Chinsamy. The rapper was meant to be appearing in court today for a possible trial, however in a surprising turn of events, his ex-wife decided to withdraw the case. “I made the decision to withdraw the case. I’d like to close this chapter and move on with my life,” Chinsamy said, speaking from the witness stand in court. He was granted R2,000 bail on conditions that he not violate the protection order and its conditions, which include that he does not publish anything about Chinsamy on social media platforms. While the previous conditions said he should not communicate with his wife Nicole Chinsamy at all, the court ruled that he can now communicate with her only on matters pertaining to their three minor children. Emtee is set to return to court again on 10 September for further representations. Image: Times Live
