Popular music producer and radio host, DJ Cleo has announced his departure from Radio 2000 where he hosted The Eskhaleni Party show since April 2024. He took to social media to express his gratitude tot he station as well as acknowledge the shows success over the brief years: “I am incredibly proud of the growth we achieved. Throughout my tenure, I have delivered a one-of-a-kind programme that went far beyond my expected key performance indicators. I stepped in for absent colleagues with absolute professionalism and maintained an unblemished disciplinary record with management. I have never been absent. I am eternally grateful to Tony Soglo and management for identifying me as the ideal candidate to host the show, which I named The Eskhaleni Party with DJ Cleo. Seeing the show nominated for the Telkom Radio Awards after its first year on the airwaves remains a massive highlight for me,” he wrote. “To my colleagues, those who supported me closely and the not-so-nice ones, thank you for walking this journey with me. Even though the listeners will miss the mixes and the unique Eskhaleni flavour, I will miss them the most. This is certainly not the end of the brand.” Cleo shared that he was leaving to focus on music, live DJ'ing and his academic journey but most importantly his mental health. Making this decision wasn’t difficult at all. I am choosing to refocus my energy on my music career, my family, my academic journey and, most importantly, my peace and mental health. I am not leaving. I hold the SABC brand and Radio 2000 in high regard, and they will continue to be accorded the respect they deserve.
