Veteran kwaito artist Arthur Mafokate has filed a R1.5 million lawsuit against his former lover, singer and actress Busisiwe “Cici” Thwala in the Johannesburg High Court.

Mafokate, 56, claims Cici’s social media posts made last September defamed him, caused emotional distress, and led to lost business opportunities.

The posts allegedly accused Mafokate of assaulting and “almost murdering” Cici, showing X-rays of her past pelvic surgery. Although Cici stands by her claims of domestic abuse at the hands of Arthur, Mafokate was acquitted of assault charges related to the 2017 incident.

Cici and Arthur are no strangers to the court room. The former couple have a history of four major legal battles dating back to 2017. Cici claimed Mafokate dragged her with his car, while Mafokate countered that she attacked him. Both have been acquitted in past cases.

This is an ongoing case at the Johannesburg High Court.
